Education

With particular experience in managing potentially dangerous construction work on tight, enclosed sites during term time, Langwith Builders have been involved in many education projects, particularly for Lincolshire County Council and Mouchel Business Services. Our projects range from small extensions through to complete new schools and from traditionally procured contracts through to ones designed in-house.

George Farmer Sixth Form, Holbeach, Lincolnshire

George Farmer Sixth Form

This project was undertaken on a design and build basis and was supervised by Mouchel Business Services. The building provides specialist vocational facilities for the delivery of post sixteen education in; plumbing, electrical engineering, brick laying, bench joinery, motor vehicle, hair and beauty, child care, vocational art, CISCO and business studies. The building was designed utilising a timber frame solution for both speed of erection and to satisfy the sustainable agenda. The overall cost of the project was almost £2 million.

Spalding Post 16 Centre

The scheme to provide teaching facilities for post 16 students was undertaken with Lincolnshire County Council and Mouchel Business Services utilising a 2 stage partnering arrangement which was awarded on the basis of a price quality bid. Langwith Builders were appointed well before detailed design started and were able to integrate into the team and offer advice as to methods of construction which ensured that the project, despite delays in the planning process, was completed on schedule. The project was built using a steel frame with a mixture of masonry and rainscreen cladding. Timber framed infill panels were use so as to allow the building to be made watertight at an early stage thereby allowing internal finishing works to commence. The overall cost of the project was almost £2.4million

Weston Hills Primary School, Lincolnshire

Weston Hills Primary School

This was the first “sustainably built” primary school Lincolnshire County Council undertook and Langwith Builders, by working on the project, learnt a lot as to how this form of construction should be undertaken. The project utilised a timber frame with a mixture of larch cladding and render to the external elevations. The project incorporated natural ventilation, rainwater harvesting and solar water heating. The overall cost for this project was almost £1.6 million.
